3/31-4/1/11--White-faced Ibis, Hillsborough County, Cockroach Bay Rd.
Observer: Cameron Cox. Directions: From U.S. 41, turn west onto
Cockroach Bay Rd. approximately 5.0 miles south of Ruskin. Just past
the mitigation ponds on the south side of the road is a small wooded
area of mostly Brazilian pepper. As soon as the wooded area ends there
is an open lawn, currently flooded, just east of the Hawaiian Isles
Trailer Park. White-faced forages here along with Glossy Ibis. Birds may
also be at the mitigation ponds further down the road on the right.
Upland Sandpiper also seen today in sod field about 100 yards further
west of ibis location, just past trailer park entrance road and on north
side of road.
