10/7/12--Say's Phoebe, north Pinellas County, Brooker Creek Preserve
area. Observer: Tom Mast. Reporter: Brian Ahern. Directions: from SR 60
and McMullen Booth Road/CR 611 in Clearwater, go north on McMullen Booth
past Brooker Creek Park to Tarpon Springs/Keystone Road/CR 582. Turn
east (right) and go about .5 mi to Old Keystone Rd (north side of road).
Turn east (right) and go until reaching ball field/sports complex and
unnamed road on north side of road. Take this unnamed road past sports
complex to large water structure at southwest part of large fenced area
enclosing water facility. From Suncoast Parkway (toll) in Hillsborough
County, take CR 685A/Van Dyke Rd west to CR 582/Gunn Hwy. Turn north
(right) and continue on CR 582, heading west on that highway where Gunn
Hwy continues north. Go to Old Keystone Rd (right side of road), turn
onto it and continue to unnamed road heading north. Follow instruction
above to reach fenced area of water facility where phoebe was found.
(GPS 28.154115,-82.67441, DeLORME p. 82) At northeast part of this
large fenced area is long rectangular pond. Say's Phoebe perched on
fence by pond and on perches in open field, so might be found in any
area within fence. Photo courtesy Tom Mast.
