Burrowing Owls, Marion County

As far as I know, Burrowing
Owls, a charismatic bird,
receive no protection in
Florida. Their habitat is
exactly the same areas that
are perfect for development
and agriculture.

There are some known sites,
and many of these are
precarious--ridiculously so.
Highly at risk, where the
birds are holding on, by the
grace of...

Surely, our Florida Bur Owls
must by now be a discreet
subspecies. Yet I'm not aware
of any efforts to protect
them.

Please clue me in if I'm
missing something here. I
would love to know that
someone is working on this.

Yeah, this may get me kicked
off Brdbrains, wouldn't be the
first time.
