As far as I know, Burrowing Owls, a charismatic bird, receive no protection in Florida. Their habitat is exactly the same areas that are perfect for development and agriculture.

Surely, our Florida Bur Owls must by now be a discreet subspecies. Yet I'm not aware of any efforts to protect them.
Please clue me in if I'm missing something here. I would love to know that someone is working on this.
